Castrol Edge Motorsport

There are few, if any motorsport categories that BMW hasn’t excelled in over its illustrious history – be it Formula 1, touring cars, DTM or endurance racing. In 2013, BMW completed another great year in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), keeping a hold on the manufacturers’ title for the second year running. This followed a dream return to the sport in 2012, when BMW won all three titles: DTM Driver Champion, DTM Team Champions and DTM Manufacturers’ Champion. Supported by Castrol’s strongest engine oil, Castrol EDGE, BMW will be just as keen to win the championship again.

The pit stop: the ultimate test of teamwork

Take a closer look at the BMW Motorsport Team’s pitstop to see why motor racing truly is a team sport and why teamwork is integral to BMW’s success.

With experience in Formula 1, touring car racing and Le Mans sportscars to name a few, BMW Motorsport has plenty of racing know-how, and it has all been poured into making the BMW M4 DTM every bit as successful as its predecessor. At its heart is the Castrol EDGE-lubricated 4.0-litre V8 engine generating a massive 480bhp. With such huge amounts of power, the strength of Castrol EDGE is crucial in ensuring the engine performs at its best, while also delivering winning performances. It’s one of the many reasons BMW recommends Castrol EDGE for its road cars as well.

About DTM

The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) features flame-spitting V8 saloons roaring around a crowded track while passionate fans cheer them on. There’s rivalry between teams, drivers and fans, and together with the flags, airhorns and fireworks, the atmosphere at the races is unparalleled in motor racing. The cars are based on production four-door saloons and coupés, but are lightweight and super powerful. It all adds up for sensational racing, making the DTM the ideal stage to prove Castrol EDGE’s strength to perform.
